I want to have cosmetic dental treatment to achieve a 'new smile'. How do I choose the right dentist?

Before embarking on any treatment, we make the following recommendations:

  • Find a dentist who will listen to your needs and discuss how you feel about your smile on a one-to-one basis
  • Ask to see the dentist's 'before' and 'after' photographs
  • Ask for references
  • Ask how the dentist keeps up to date with new technology and what specialist training he/she has undertaken in cosmetic/aesthetic dentistry.
  • Expect the dentist to provide you with a comprehensive report and treatment plan outlining your personal ‘smile design’ treatment options.
  • Expect to receive a full breakdown of costs for any treatments you may be considering.

I am looking for a new smile. How much will it cost me and how long will it last?

The treatment plan and cost of your new smile will depend on what type of dental treatment you require, and is specifically tailored to each individual.

A new smile can be achieved by employing a combination of modern dental techniques such as veneers, crowns and teeth whitening. The longevity of your new smile will depend on how well you look after it. Regular visits to the hygienist are strongly recommended. As guidance, veneers and crowns can be expected to last 10-15 years. Individual treatment plans and prices for 'smile design' can be discussed at your cosmetic consultation.

How can I expect to pay for treatment?

We normally require payment at each appointment for treatment carried out on that particular day. For some treatments, you may be required to pay up to 50% of the cost at the start of treatment and the remainder on completion of treatment.

We also operate an in-house dental care plan with an interest free payment option allowing payments to be spread over several months. Personally tailored payment options may be accommodated by arrangement with the practice prior to commencement of any treatment.

We accept Cash, Major Credit/Debit Cards (Please note that the practice does not accept payments by Cheque or American Express) Read more - Fees and Finance Arrangements

I have gaps in my teeth as well as crooked and uneven teeth and an unattractive smile. What can be done to transform this so I can smile without covering my mouth? How long will it take and is it painful?

'Smile Design' allows the dentist to employ some of the modern dental techniques available today in order to transform your existing teeth into a beautiful and radiant smile.

A cosmetic consultation with the dentist will allow him to assess your case, discuss your desired outcome and offer you various treatment options and prices.

Due to the advances in modern dentistry, your smile can be transformed relatively painlessly in a comfortable and relaxed environment, within a matter of weeks.

I am very nervous about visiting the dentist. Can you offer any help?

The Oakwood Dental Centre and Cosmetic White Smiles pride themselves on the level of service we offer our patients. We have a professional and experienced team of dentists, hygienists and nurses who provide a caring and sympathetic service in a comfortable, relaxed and welcoming environment.

We welcome nervous patients and will ensure your needs are catered for and any concerns you may have are considered during your treatments.

Sedation services are also available on request.

I have some missing teeth in my mouth and don’t want dentures as I am still young and want to be able to smile! What treatments are available to me?

Dental Implants are a consideration to replace missing teeth providing you are a suitable candidate. You would need a consultation with the dentist to assess suitability.
