Dental veneers are a useful dental treatment that is widely used by people who have discoloured teeth, chipped teeth or misshapen teeth. Dental veneers are thin wafer-like shells, used for covering the tooth. Dental veneers are quite effective if you wish to change the colour, size and shape of the affected tooth.

This dental treatment is not expensive and is very effective if you want to fix a tooth that is broken, worn down, or chipped. Dental veneers are also quite effective in bridging a gap between teeth.

Resin and porcelain are the two most used materials for making dental veneers. However, porcelain veneers are a better choice compared to resin veneers. This is because porcelain veneers have the ability to resist stains better than resin ones.

The entire procedure for dental veneers may take three visits, possibly four, to the cosmetic dentist, as there are several stages involved. Impressions and dental x-rays of the tooth may be required before you even begin. Then, when treating the tooth, around ½ millimetre of enamel is removed from the surface of the tooth. The dentist will then make an impression or a replica of your teeth. The replica is then passed to the dental laboratory where the new veneer is constructed. If the veneer fits and matches the tooth perfectly, it is then cemented to your tooth.

The best part of dental veneers is that they are a perfect match to the shape, colour and size of the affected tooth.
