Using crowns to repair teeth
Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain crowns restore broken down teeth and protect damaged teeth by providing a protective cover over the tooth being treated. They are also used in cosmetic dentistry for cosmetic reasons such as changing the colour of teeth, closing gaps and straightening teeth.
Crowns are often used alongside a dental bridges when a gap is being filled for a missing tooth. A bridge would be created utilising two crowns on the healthy teeth either side of a gap with the false tooth filling the gap between them.
Porcelain crowns can be made to resemble the colour, shade and appearance of natural teeth.Advances in cosmetic dentistry and the use of metal free porcelain crowns has also allowed the elimination of the unattractive metal line visible around the gums which was often apparent with traditional old-style crowns.
