The procedure of gum contouring or reshaping

Healthy and well-contoured, pink gum tissues complement and frame the teeth. The aesthetic framing of the gum tissue is as important to the teeth as a frame is to a painting. Gum tissue that is red and swollen and unsymmetrical in appearance makes even the teeth that are otherwise healthy, look bad.

The first thing to do when gum reshaping or contouring is to make the gum tissue healthy again. Once that is achieved, one can evaluate the tissue contours. When you come across an attractive smile, you will not only see beautiful teeth but also healthy, even gum tissue. The edge of the gum tissue should be of the same height for the two front teeth and the two canines.

The most common problem with most teeth is that their gums are not contoured properly. This makes one tooth look longer than the other, giving a very asymmetrical appearance to your teeth. Another problem is increased visibility of the gums, which is seen among people who show a lot of their gums while smiling. All these problems can be corrected using gum contouring.

On most occasions, all that is required to correct the aesthetic appearance of the gums is a surgical contouring of the gum tissue. This is called a simple cosmetic gum lift. By using the benefits of this simple surgery, you can make your smile a lot more complete and your gums healthier.
